SARA EIKENBERRY Clarinet Instructor
Sara Eikenberry is a clarinetist, private lesson teacher, and piano accompanist. She teaches young clarinetists and saxophonists ranging from 4th-12th grade in Gurnee, Beach Park, and Zion, IL, and assists with the marching band, pep band, and clarinet sectionals at Zion-Benton Township High School. Prior to teaching in her clarinet studio full-time, Mrs. Eikenberry was a band director for 8 years in Newton, Oak Brook, and Beach Park, IL. She also accompanies many of her students on piano for solo and ensemble contest each winter.
She is currently a member of the Harmonie North Chamber Winds, the Cinque Venti Woodwind Quintet, principal clarinetist of the Waukegan Band, and sometimes performs with the Wheaton Band. Mrs. Eikenberry received her Bachelors of Music Education degree with highest honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010. While at the University of Illinois, she studied clarinet under Professor J. David Harris, performed in the Wind Symphony, the UI Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tangental Clarinet Quartet, the Marching Illini, the Basketball Band, and directed the 9pm Mass Choir at St. John's Catholic Newman Center. She is certified to teach K-12 music in Illinois.
When she isn’t involved with music, Mrs. Eikenberry is busy homeschooling her 4 kids, leading a church moms group, and tutoring for a local chapter of Classical Conversations. She enjoys traveling, playing board games, and spending time in nature with her family.
GLENN EIKENBERRY Trumpet & Jazz Improvisation Instructor
Glenn Eikenberry teaches middle school concert band and jazz band in Gurnee School District 56. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education with highest honors from the University of Illinois in 2010 and earned his master's degree in Music Education from Bowling Green State University in 2016. Before coming to District 56 in 2013, Mr. Eikenberry taught beginning and middle school band for 3 years in Benton, Illinois.
In addition to teaching, he has performed with the Waukegan Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Metropolitan Brass Ensemble, the Marlon Stevens Salsa band, the North Suburban Wind Ensemble, the Curious Jimmy C Band, and the Wheaton Municipal Band. He also composes and arranges for young musicians and leads the Praise Band at First Presbyterian Church of Waukegan. Mr. Eikenberry is certified to teach K-12 music in Illinois.
